Privacy Policy
Stampsy: Countries Visited Map is an app for iPhone and Android, with this website, operated by Stampsy (“we”, “our”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using Stampsy you agree to the use of information as described here.
The short version
- The photo scan reads only the location and date of your photos, on your phone. Your photos are never uploaded.
- We keep the result: the countries, regions and collections you have visited, and when. Not your photos, and not where you stood.
- Arrival alerts use your location only to notice that you are in a new country. We do not keep a location history.
- An account is optional. Without one, your map stays on your phone.
- We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.
- You can export your map and delete your account at any time.
1. Your photo library
If you allow photo access, Stampsy reads the location and date stored with each photo to find the countries, regions and trips in your library. This happens on your phone. Stampsy does not look at what is in your photos, and your photos are never uploaded to us or anyone else. What Stampsy keeps is the result: which countries, regions and collections you visited and when. You can change photo access at any time in your phone’s settings, or skip the scan and add countries by hand.
2. Your location and arrival alerts
Arrival alerts are off until you turn them on. If you do, Stampsy uses your location in the background only to notice when you arrive in a country you have not stamped yet, so it can offer you the stamp. It checks the country, not your exact position, and it does not store or send a history of where you have been. Only a country you choose to stamp is saved to your map. You can turn arrival alerts and location access off at any time in the app or in your phone’s settings.
3. What we collect
- Your map: your home country, the countries, regions and collections you mark, stamp dates, trips, your wishlist and badges.
- Memories: the notes and dates you add to a stamp. They are stored with your map: on your phone, and in your account if you sign in.
- Account (optional): your email address, or the details Sign in with Apple or Google share with us, and a name if you add one.
- Purchases: whether you have Stampsy Pro, as confirmed by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details.
- Technical data: device type, operating system, app version and crash reports, to keep Stampsy working.
- Support: anything you send us by email.
4. How we use it
- To show your map, passport, stats, regions and collections.
- To back up your map and keep it in step across your devices, if you have an account.
- To send the alerts and reminders you turn on.
- To provide, secure and improve Stampsy, and to manage your purchases.
- To answer your questions and meet legal obligations.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use a small number of service providers to run Stampsy: hosting, sign-in and backup, crash reporting, and purchase verification with Apple and Google. They process data only on our behalf and must protect it. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
6. This website and the waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address, the date you joined and which page or campaign brought you to us. We use it only to email you when Stampsy launches, we do not share it, and we delete the list after launch. To be removed sooner, email [email protected]. This website uses only the cookies it needs to work (a session cookie for the form) and remembers your light or dark choice in your browser. It has no advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Storage and security
Data in your account is encrypted in transit and stored with our hosting provider. We use reasonable safeguards such as encryption and access controls, but no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
8. How long we keep data
We keep your account data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove it from our systems, and backups are cleared within 30 days.
9. Export or delete your data
You can export your map as a CSV from the app at any time. You can delete your Stampsy account and its data at any time, with or without the app.
- In the app: open your profile, then Delete account, and confirm. This works on iPhone and Android.
- Without the app: email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my Stampsy account”. We confirm within 7 days.
What is deleted: your account and profile, your map and stamps, trips, wishlist, memories, regions and collections. Backups are cleared within 30 days.
What is kept: nothing that identifies you in our systems. Apple or Google keep their own purchase records under their policies. Deleting your account does not cancel a Yearly plan: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. Your photos stay in your photo library and are never touched.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. You can do most of this in the app, or email us at [email protected]. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
Stampsy is not meant for children under 13, or under the minimum age the App Store or Google Play sets where you live. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
12. Changes
If we make important changes to this policy, we will tell you in the app before they take effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
